Face to face with The Travelling Band.

The Travelling Band are having super busy times: releasing a new EP ‘Hands Up’, touring tirelessly and working hard at bringing a brand-new album ‘The Big Defreeze’ to their audiences keep the musicians extremely busy. However, they managed to find time to answer a few questions from Rock Britain about everything going on with the band at the moment.

– Your new EP ‘Hands Up’ gives a taste of music to expect on your upcoming full-length ‘The Big Defreeze’. Why did you choose to release an EP prior to the full-length release?

– We wanted to give people a taste of the new album before we went on tour. Giving away a digital on a pay what you want basis made sense to get some of the new songs out there.

– How did you like working with Iestyn Polson on ‘The Big Defreeze’?

– It was a great experience. We did some pre-production with him up in Manchester then decamped down to The Church Studios in Crouch End which was a beautiful place to record. It was great to have his experience when it came to the production and sonics of the record.

– March promises to be very busy for you tour-wise. What do you expect from this tour?

– We’re excited about it. We’ve not toured for some time and we’re looking forward to playing the new stuff out on the road.

– What is your main touring rule?

– At the moment, at least one sandwich and 100 sit-ups a day.

– Apart from touring and releasing album number three, what other plans have you got for the rest of 2013?

– We’ll be playing some festivals and heading out to Europe in the Autumn.
